Q: What is Metamucil Fibresure?

Metamucil Fibresure is the perfect fibre supplement to help you and your family meet their daily fibre needs. Made from natural fibre Inulin, Metamucil Fibresure is a totally tasteless, dissolvable and non-thickening powder that can be added to your everyday food or drink, you can even cook with it! Fibresure makes it easy to top up your family fibre intake, without altering the taste of your food or drinks. Adding Metamucil Fibresure to your everyday foods:

  • Won't change the taste or texture of foods or beverages
  • Provides 5 grams of fibre per serving, 3 servings a day provides you with 15 grams, 50% of your recommended daily fibre intake

Q: What is Inulin fibre in Metamucil Fibresure?

Inulin is a 100% natural vegetable fibre extracted from the chicory root using water.

Q: What is the difference between Metamucil and Metamucil Fibresure?

The Psyllium fibre found in Metamucil is a natural fibre, like Inulin. The Inulin fibre found in Metamucil Fibresure is completely natural, tasteless and dissolvable and non-thickening, that provides you with greater flexibility because you can cook and bake with it.

Q: How much fibre does Fibresure provide?

Fibresure provides 5grams of fibre per serving. It can be taken up to 3 times daily. When taken 3 times daily, Fibresure can provide 15 grams i.e. 50% of your recommended daily intake of fibre.

Q: What are the Australian guidelines for supplementing dietary fibre among adults & children?

Australia National Health and Medical Council, in its Nutrient Reference Values for Australian & New Zealand Report, refers to AI (Adequate Intake) for Dietary Fibre as:

Q: Can Fibresure be given to children?

Fibresure is not recommended for children under 1 year of age. For older children, parents can use the above Adequate Intake value by NHMRC as a reference guideline, but should also take into consideration the fibre intake from other food products.

Q: What foods has Fibresure been tested with to demonstrate its undetectable taste?

When used as directed, i.e. stir 5.8g into 250mls of water or other beverage, Fibresure demonstrated undetectable taste in most food and beverages.

Q: Does Fibresure retain all its nutritional benefits after cooking?

Inulin is a natural fibre which is heat-stable. Our data indicates that no significant changes occur between temperatures 100C to 200C. Because normal cooking temperatures wouldn't expose the product to temperatures beyond 200C, Fibresure will retain its nutritional benefits after cooking.

Q: Is Metamucil Fibresure natural?

Yes 100% natural – Inulin is the only ingredient present in Fibresure. Inulin is extracted from the roots of a chicory plant. It is not chemically altered.

Q: Is Metamucil Fibresure sugar-free?

Metamucil Fibresure powder doesn't contain any added sugar, however, Inulin has small of amounts of sugar in it, hence it can't be termed as sugar-free.

Q: Is Metamucil Fibresure safe for everyday use?

Yes, you can safely use Fibresure everyday. Just follow the directions on the label.

Q: Are there any dietary/allergy considerations I should be aware of?

It is best to double check with your physician as they will have a better understanding of your family's health conditions.

Q: Can Fibresure be given to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers?

As there are insufficient studies done among pregnant or breastfeeding women, we recommend pregnant and breastfeeding women talk with their physicians before use.
